Connect your bank
Connecting a bank account is what brings MoneyLights to life: your transactions flow in automatically and your cash-flow forecast starts to build. Connections use Open Banking (PSD2) — the same secure, regulated standard your bank uses for its own apps.
How the connection works
Section titled “How the connection works”MoneyLights never sees or stores your banking password. You authorise the connection on your bank’s own website or app, and your bank returns a secure token that lets MoneyLights read your transactions — nothing more. You can revoke access at any time, from either MoneyLights or your bank.
-
Go to Bank Connections and choose Connect a bank.
-
Select your country and bank from the list. The available banks depend on the country set for your business.
-
Authorise on your bank’s site. You’ll be redirected to your bank to log in and approve read-only access. This is handled entirely by your bank.
-
Choose which accounts to share (if your bank asks) and confirm. You’re returned to MoneyLights, which begins importing your recent transactions.
After connecting
Section titled “After connecting”- First import. MoneyLights fetches your recent history and then keeps the account in sync automatically. Depending on the bank, the first import can take a little time.
- Categorisation. Incoming transactions are categorised automatically — see Transactions to learn how to review and refine them.
- Multiple accounts. Repeat the steps to connect as many accounts as you need. MoneyLights combines them into a single, unified view.
Renewing access
Section titled “Renewing access”For security, Open Banking authorisations expire periodically (typically every few months, set by your bank). When that happens MoneyLights will prompt you to reconnect — a quick repeat of the authorisation step that keeps your data flowing.
